What To Include On Your Resume in 2021

At Adapt Talent, we are eCommerce recruitment specialists and we review a lot of resumes each week. We’ve already shared our tips on how to write a resume and today, we’re sharing exactly what we think you should include in yours to stand out from the crowd.

The eCommerce and tech job markets are now more competitive than ever before meaning it’s crucial to ensure your resume stands out from the rest and showcases your experience and achievements in the best way.

It’s important to highlight accomplishments and explain achievements and promotions in the right way to get the readers’ attention. This will allow you to have an edge over other applicants who may not be as detailed with their resumes.

How did you enhance performance in your team?

Did you implement a change that helped the team increase their productivity or improve deadline times? Great! Include information about this on your resume and use percentages and figures where you can. You don’t have to include this for every position on your resume, just try and add it in where you can – especially on your most recent positions.

Example:

  • Implemented new CRM system allowing the team to increase productivity by 50%

Did you have any direct reports?

It’s always great to mention how many individuals you were in charge of supporting or directly managing in your previous positions. This will be especially useful when looking to progress into a more senior position that involves managing.

Example:

  • Directly managed team of 5 on-site developers as well as providing support to a further 3 offshore.

Were you involved in internal recruitment?

Showcasing your previous experience in interviewing potential new hires for your business can look impressive on your resume. Not only does this mean that your previous employer trusted you with your opinion and judgment on the growth of their business, but it is also a very valuable experience to have.

Example:

  • Assisted management in interviewing and selection of new hires for my team. Successfully hired 3 developers to my team.

Did you achieve any promotions?

Promotions are always impressive. They demonstrate that you have been successful in your position and have often gone above your colleagues to achieve the promotion. Explain how long this took and is applicable, why you were chosen!

Example:

  • I was promoted after 1 year of service to a Senior Developer role after successfully completing a project and receiving some amazing feedback from a new client.

What awards did you win?

Lots of businesses have internal awards in place now as well as entering into external industry-wide ceremonies. Including information about any awards you won and when would look great on your resume. Winning an award shows that you are the best at what you do!

Example:

  • Rewarded top-performing developer of the year in 2020.

Any other proud moments?

Talking about anything else you may have been proud of in your previous position will show that you had genuine care and passion for the business/your role.

Example:

  • Played a role in training and supporting the top-performing developer in the business.

The market is more competitive than ever so using “humble brags” in your resume could increase your chances of being selected for your dream role!

Best of luck on your job search!
