Head of Engineering | Early-stage IoT Company | Reports to CEO 

As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of advanced hardware and software solutions that power our IoT devices. This leadership position demands a strategic mindset and collaborative approach to seamlessly integrate hardware and software components, ensuring the delivery of efficient and cohesive total solutions.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

• Develop and execute strategies for hardware and software aligned with company goals.
• Stay abreast of industry trends to maintain product competitiveness.

Product Development:

• Lead design, development, and deployment of IoT hardware and software.
• Oversee full lifecycle management from concept to production and support.

Team Leadership:

• Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration across departments.

Project Management:

• Manage multiple projects ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Identify and mitigate development and production risks.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement rigorous testing to ensure product reliability and durability.
• Maintain quality standards for all components.

Supply Chain Management:

• Collaborate with COO on sourcing and supplier relationships.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality components and products.

Customer Engagement:

• Work with sales and support to understand customer needs.
• Translate requirements into actionable plans for teams.

Innovation and R&D:

• Lead R&D efforts for IoT technology advancements.
• Collaborate on patents and IP protection strategies.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure products comply with standards and regulations.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes.

Budget Management:

• Develop and manage engineering department budget.
• Optimize costs while maintaining quality.

Documentation:

• Create and maintain comprehensive design and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Facilitate clear communication between engineering and other departments.
• Provide updates on initiatives and performance to executives and board members.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Extensive leadership experience in technology-driven industries, IoT preferred.
• Proven record in high-quality hardware and software development.
• Strong project management skills with agile methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
